Developing Foundations for Families and Communities

About Us

HISTORY

Mountain CAP of WV, Inc., a CDC is a nonprofit corporation providing services for low-income families primarily in Braxton, Webster, and Upshur Counties.  We also provide limited services to Gilmer, Lewis, Doddridge, Harrison, Randolph, Nicholas, Fayette, Greenbrier, Roane, Clay, Barbour, and Pocahontas Counties.

The Community Action Program (CAP) began in 1964 under President Kennedy.  The agency started as an anti-poverty dream and continues today to eliminate poverty and strengthen our communities.  Over the past years, community action has been instrumental in establishing Head Start, senior citizens programs, weatherization programs, child care programs, Vista Volunteers, etc. with a goal of helping people to help themselves.

Mountain CAP participates in a multitude of local, regional and state boards, advisory committees, organizations, and task forces.  Each of these groups focus on making the lives of West Virginians “better”.

Over 40 years experience combined with the different funding agencies for our multitude of programs, have given our employees an extensive background with local and federal regulations, licensing and registration requirements, health and safety standards, and nutritional standards.
